With 21 students , 2 teachers , R/ Elapatha Maha Vidyalaya started her school journey in a small hut at a place called ‘ Kanupawita ‘ , on 29.11.1942 . We found in some old documents , Most Rev, Dheerananda from Ginihiriya led some other well known senior citizens in the area and established this school. Later Mr. E.D. Elapatha from Elapatha ‘Walawwa’ , donated a block of land to this school . In 1952 , as a result of that this school was shifted to the place where it is situated at present. It became a Maha Vidyalaya in 1954 , and now it is named as an Isuru College.

R/ Elapatha M.V. is situated at Nivithigala educational zone , Elapatha A.G.A. division and in Ratnapura , in Sabaragamuwa Province. You can reach the school travelling 5 meters from Ratnapura on Ratnapura Palawela road.
